I believe I can do anything I set my mind to do

Growing up in a restrictive household as a child with a father who was king and I was supposed to be the loyal subject made me quite rebellious against being told what I would and would not do. My father's thoughts toward women was they would take care of the house, raise the children, and work a menial job to help pay the bills.
I, on the other hand, had different views. I was not going to be trapped into being just a housewife and mother, working in a restaurant kitchen to make ends meet. I believed I could do anything I set my mind to. If I wanted to be a doctor, lawyer, police officer, or anything else, the sky was the limit.
In my mind, there were no careers only men were supposed to do and definitely no careers women were trapped into. I believe a woman can make a career out of anything a man could and be allowed to be better at it. Now, don't get me wrong, today, I work regular jobs, am a housewife and mother, and I enjoy every minute of it. There is nothing more gratifying than being a good wife and raising wonderful children. The difference was the freedom to make those choices for myself and find comfort in knowing that I can do anything I set my mind to.
