Know Your Audience

I learned many things about my audience from this question discussion. I have classmates from all over, but I expected them all to be local students. I was shocked that so many asked questions like "If you were a cartoon character, super hero, or TV show character who would you be?". I answered them, and realized that my personality was coming out in the answers.
To the cartoon character, I answered Garfield, because I am so busy that I dream of one day where I can just be lazy and relax like Garfield. I said Watson from the TV show Elementary to the TV character, because I like mysteries and solving mysteries intrigues me. So, with each answer, I learned something about myself and my audience's personalities.
I loved reading about all the places they dream of visiting or studying, and the reasons being the culture, art, or just to enjoy it. I was not surprised to learn so many good things about everyone's spouses, children, and friends. I could feel the love and happiness. I want to write about what interests my audience, and this assignment just gave me many interesting ideas to write about that will no doubt keep their attention.

  1. Good summary - move to analysis by asking why. Why did people answer the way that they did? What does this all mean. Defining the meaning will bring you to analysis. ~Ms. A.
